Operation Dove in Lebanon - 2022

Operation Dove volunteers share life and work alongside Syrian refugees still living in camps across the country. Supporting, helping and protecting them means still believing in the strength of relationships and the peace that comes from staying close and dreaming together.

Operation Dove in Lebanon - 2022

Operation Dove volunteers share life and work alongside Syrian refugees still living in camps across the country. Supporting, helping and protecting them means still believing in the strength of relationships and the peace that comes from staying close and dreaming together.

Since 2013 Operazione Colomba has been working alongside Syrian refugees in the Tel Abbas camp, in northern Lebanon, and in other camps in the Bekaa Valley.
The situation in Syria, where since 2011 a war has been fought between pro- and anti-government forces, remains disastrous: 400,000 dead, 6.5 million displaced, 5 million refugees forced to leave the country; of these, more than a million have sought shelter in neighboring Lebanon (with only 4.5 million inhabitants).
Operazione Colomba's volunteers live together with the refugees to be close to them and help them in their daily life.
The presence of volunteers is necessary: they visit the most fragile families to give them support; they create moments of encounter to calm tensions and encourage dialogue; they organize moments of entertainment and animation for children; they collect testimonies useful to monitor and denounce violations of Human Rights; they participate in the reception of Syrian families in Italy and Europe through Humanitarian Corridors; they support and promote the "Peace Proposal" for Syria developed together with Syrian refugees, thanks also to the support of some institutions and civil society.
The presence of volunteers mitigates the harshness of life in the refugee camp (particularly difficult due to extreme poverty, tensions and lack of prospects), but the situation is still critical and the conditions of refugees have been made even more precarious by the health emergency caused by the pandemic. Support the volunteers to build peace together with them.
