At the side of those who live on the street
The Pope John XXIII Community welcomes those living on the streets to its Bethlehem Huts, places where we live with the homeless and lonely. It meets them thanks to the volunteers of the street units who go out every night to look for them, and in the soup kitchens, where we feed hundreds of people every night. Support us to continue to give comfort and a future to those who have lost everything.
We of the Pope John XXIII Community are always present, day after day, season after season, with the volunteers of the Street Units, the hot meals of the Canteens, the welcome in our Bethlehem Huts (houses where we live with homeless people) and with our friendship, the hardest thing to find for those who are alone.
They are people who have lost everything: loved ones, homes, food, jobs, identity and rights.
We meet them waiting for the right moment to ask them, "Will you come home with me?"Yes, because we bring them to our home and from that moment we live together.
But our commitment and presence alone are not enough. The costs are many because no one cares about these people, even more so in this time of health emergency. From maintaining their homes to food, from providing them with medical care when they need it to helping them reintegrate into society, we need your support to do all this.
We are doing everything not to abandon these people.
Help us to continue to provide comfort to people living on the streets, to find them shelter, a home, a place where loneliness and despair do not take over.
Help us to give them the opportunity for a better life. Thank you.
