At the side of those who live on the street

In Italy, 50,700 people have no home other than the street, and more than 40% are Italian. The Pope John XXIII Community welcomes them in its Bethlehem Huts, 9 houses throughout Italy where we live with the homeless. It meets them in the 10 street units that go out every evening to meet those on the streets and in the 3 soup kitchens where we feed hundreds of people every evening. Support us to continue to give comfort and a future to those who have lost everything.

In Italy 50,700 people live on the streets. More than 40% are Italians. They are people who have lost everything: affection, home, food, work, identity and rights.

We of the Comunità Papa Giovanni XXIII are always there, day after day, season after season, with the volunteers of the Street Units, the hot meals of the Canteens, the welcome in our Bethlehem Huts (houses where we live with homeless people) and with our friendship, the most difficult thing to find for those who are alone.

We meet them waiting for the right moment to ask them, "will you come home with me?".
Yes, because we bring them to our home and from that moment we live together.
But our commitment and our presence alone are not enough. The costs are many because no one cares about these people, even more so in this period of health emergency. From maintaining their homes to providing food, from guaranteeing them medical assistance when they need it to helping them reintegrate into society, we need your support to do all this.

We are doing everything we can to not abandon these people.
Help us to continue to provide comfort to people living on the streets, to find them a shelter, a home, a place where loneliness and despair do not take over.
Help us to give them the opportunity of a better life. Thank you.
