One way to meet, many ways to love

James has been going out on the streets for several years with volunteers from the Pope John XXIII Community to meet those who live there and struggle daily with their wounds, to win breaches of freedom, to long for a hug. He ended up there a bit by accident, accompanying some boy scouts to do service, and immediately fell in love with the street. From these experiences he also got to know the Bethlehem Hut in Cavazzale, which houses people in situations of fragility, with whom we shared moments of smiles and opportunities, giving us joy.Marta, on mission in Ecuador, meeting lonely and fragile people, turned her gaze to their stories, their sorrows and joys, remaining deeply affected. She brought this gaze back to Italy with the desire not to remain indifferent. We told each other about our paths and experiences, and we found in caring for those living on the street a way to grow as a couple and keep our gaze on others. We would like the margin to become a place of opportunity, destabilizing and questioning us every day, strengthening us in our love as a couple, for the last and for the world.Martha and James

Fundraising by Marta e Giacomo

James has been going out on the streets for several years with volunteers from the Pope John XXIII Community to meet those who live there and struggle daily with their wounds, to win breaches of freedom, to long for a hug. He ended up there a bit by accident, accompanying some boy scouts to do service, and immediately fell in love with the street.

From these experiences he also got to know the Bethlehem Hut in Cavazzale, which houses people in situations of fragility, with whom we shared moments of smiles and opportunities, giving us joy.

Marta, on mission in Ecuador, meeting lonely and fragile people, turned her gaze to their stories, their sorrows and joys, remaining deeply affected. She brought this gaze back to Italy with the desire not to remain indifferent.

We told each other about our paths and experiences, and we found in caring for those living on the street a way to grow as a couple and keep our gaze on others.

We would like the margin to become a place of opportunity, destabilizing and questioning us every day, strengthening us in our love as a couple, for the last and for the world.

The fundraiser supports the project: At the side of those who live on the street
Total project goal: 10.000 €

The Pope John XXIII Community welcomes those living on the streets to its Bethlehem Huts, places where we live with the homeless and lonely. It meets them thanks to the volunteers of the street units who go out every night to look for them, and in the soup kitchens, where we feed hundreds of people every night. Support us to continue to give comfort and a future to those who have lost everything.
