Strength is in the union: the dream of Vincenzo and Tiziana
Vincenzo and Tiziana more than 20 years ago were the father and mother of the first family home of the Pope John XXIII Community in the Bologna area, specifically in the Idice Valley. Over the years, their home has been filled with joy and hope, welcoming many children and young people with disabilities, who are also involved in working the land, an activity that has concretely fostered their social inclusion.

Soon, Vincenzo and Tiziana's example inspired others: the valley thus came alive with as many as seven Family Homes and two therapeutic communities, nurturing solidarity and mutual aid. A true richness of life that restored the joy of relationships to children who had lost it.

Today Vincenzo and Tiziana are no longer with us, but their dream has remained alive: to build a large house in Noce di Mercatale, designed to house three family homes and one family open to welcoming. Here families will be able to secure the mutual help and support they need, especially when age adds its own labors.

Construction work on the new homes is complete, but to complete the realization of this dream, the families need to raise €50,000 to finish the purchase of the furniture needed to furnish the new home.

With your support, we can help them achieve this goal and bring to life a special place where people with disabilities, in need and lonely elderly welcomed will be able to give and receive support, and where the joy of being all together will heal the wounds of those who are left with no one.

An inspiring story: it all began with a call
In 1980, Vincenzo and Tiziana's honeymoon was interrupted by a phone call that forever changed their lives and those of an entire community. Don Oreste called them with an urgent appeal: a six-month-old baby in Bologna needed a mom and dad. They returned and their home in Mercatale became the first Community Family Home in the Bologna area.

Since then, a wonderful story of welcome and love began, which continues today in the family homes in their valley. Support this project, keep Vincenzo and Tiziana's memory alive and help us give life to this place of rebirth for the most fragile.
