Operation Dove
Operazione Colomba's volunteers work side by side with victims in conflict zones, living with them 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, sharing risks and hardships but also hopes and possible solutions. Thanks to their international presence and nonviolent actions, they protect the lives of defenseless civilians and concretely build Peace where there is hatred and violence. Peace in the world is a common good: to build it, we need everyone's help.
Operation Dove is the Nonviolent Peace Corps of the Pope John XXIII Community born in 1992 from the desire of some volunteers and conscientious objectors to concretely live nonviolence in war zones.
The experience gained in the field has led Operazione Colomba over the years to open stable presences in numerous conflicts around the world, from the Balkans to Latin America, from the Caucasus to Africa, from the Middle to the Far East involving, among volunteers and conscientious objectors, more than 2,000 people.
Since 1992 until today Operazione Colomba has also established important collaborative relationships with National and International Bodies and Institutions (United Nations, European Union...), numerous Human Rights Centers and NGOs, Church representatives, Associations and Local Groups.
Operation Dove volunteers work alongside victims in conflict zones, living with conflict victims 24 hours a day for 365 days a year, sharing risks and hardships but also hopes and possible solutions, through reporting and advocacy actions. Through their international presence and with nonviolent actions, they protect the lives of defenseless civilians, regardless of ethnicity or religion, and concretely build Peace where there is hatred and violence.
Operation Dove is currently present in Colombia, Lebanon (in Syrian refugee camps), Palestine, Ukraine, Chile, and along the migrant routes through Greece.
