My experience in Ukraine
Fundraising by Giacomo Ceruti
.In 2022, as soon as the conflict between Ukraine and Russia began, I felt a deep need to act, not to remain a mere spectator of that humanitarian tragedy. So I decided to join Operation Dove-the nonviolent peace corps of the Pope John XXIII Community-by going directly to Ukraine.
For three months I lived in Mykolaïv, but I also traveled to Odessa, Kiev, Kherson and nearby villages that had been occupied by the Russian army.
Despite the difficulties, I met an incredibly strong and resilient people. These people wanted to let the world know their reality, their daily struggle for survival in times of war.
Today I try to share their stories through my photographs. Each image represents a part of this experience: the distribution of humanitarian aid, the devastating effects of the bombing...pieces of life amidst the violence of war.
I am now asking for your help.
You can join me on this journey for Peace in Ukraine. Your donation, large or small, will matter in the lives of those who are resisting every day for their existence. Every contribution counts, every gesture of solidarity counts. You can also share this story, raise your voice and make the world listen. We are united in our resolve. Join me, support peace in Ukraine and give hope to those who need it most.
Thank you!
From Oct. 8 to 29, if you wish, you can visit my photo exhibition "The Eyes of War" in Cascina Roma in San Donato Milanese (Piazza delle Arti 6).
