G9 Center: a family and a future for Nairobi's street kids

The G9 center in Kenya takes in street children and youth and offers them the chance to have a normal life: eating, sleeping, going to school and learning how to take care of themselves and others. The center now needs your help to raise the €25,000 needed to continue to provide food, medical care, hygiene products and dedicated staff for the children and youth who are taken in.

In Kenya, thousands of children live on the streets. No one knows exactly how many there are, but in Nairobi alone, it is estimated that more than 60,000 take refuge in the slums that have sprung up around landfills.

They are orphans, abandoned or fleeing the most extreme poverty. They initially seek solace in the company of young people like themselves, but soon end up trapped in a spiral of expediency, violence, alcohol and drugs.

These are children who did not choose to live this way. But today, together, we can offer them a real chance for salvation.

Thanks to the Pope John XXIII Community's Rainbow Project, today we welcome about 20 children to the G9 Center. Here they can live a normal life: they eat, sleep, go to school, learn to take care of themselves and others. They become children again: they play, they laugh, they dream.

Every afternoon, we also open our doors to neighborhood children: we become an oratory where they play soccer and basketball, listen to music, study and create community.

A place where we restore children's dignity and hope
Here at the G9 Center, the children and youth received have personal experiences of great fragility. We have the great responsibility - and the great gift - of making them feel at home, loved, part of a family.

But this gift also needs you. Only together can we continue to open doors and hearts.

This is G9: a little bit Noah's ark, a little bit safe harbor before leaving again stronger than before. A project that also needs you to continue to exist.

To provide food, medical care, hygiene and staffing, we need at least 25,000 euros every year. We do NOT call these "operating costs." They are expenses for the survival of our family.

You can support this project in two ways:
  • Activate a personal fundraiser and share it with your friends, family and colleagues by asking them to support the project you care about with a donation;
  • Or donate to an already active personal fundraiser: any contribution, even the smallest, will make a difference.
You can also donate by bank transfer or postal bulletin:
