A Family’s Love: A New Hope
Maria Cristina and Luca are the parents at the “Aquila e Priscilla” Family Home in Cinto Euganeo (PD) and are part of the Pope John XXIII Community. Over the years, their home—born from the desire to open the doors of their future family even to those children who would not be born of their own love—has welcomed children without families, young people in need, the elderly, mothers, and adults with cognitive and mental health challenges. The story of Maria Cristina and Luca is a wonderful example of how love and a willingness to open one’s heart to others can transform a home into a true beacon of hope and welcome for those who need it most.
Have a peaceful summer and safe travels
Currently, the family consists of mom Maria Cristina, dad Luca, their biological children Marta and Isaia, aged 16 and 14, along with Francesco, 20, K., 15, C., 14, and Valentina, 33, with her son E., just 6 years old.
Maria Cristina and Luca need your support to safeguard the well-being of their family, especially those who are most vulnerable. Climate change has made summers increasingly scorching, turning their home into a place where the oppressive heat is hard to bear. Francesco, one of the young people with disabilities living in the home, was so affected last summer that he almost stopped eating and speaking because of the heat. Unfortunately, in a home like theirs, an overly hot environment is strongly discouraged, especially when someone falls ill and finds no relief during the day or while resting.
In addition to this challenge, Maria Cristina and Luca must also contend with the lack of a vehicle to transport the young people to various activities. They currently have a Ducato, received as a gift, but with well over 350,000 km on it, which requires constant and costly maintenance.
To make the home livable during the hot season and to be able to travel safely, they now need to purchase air conditioners and a new minibus. The total cost for these needs is €68,000. With your support, we can help them achieve this important goal and give them the chance to enjoy their summers peacefully and continue traveling together safely, without worrying about sudden breakdowns.
