Dignity and safety for families in the Village of Joy
The Village of Joy, located in Forli, takes in fragile families in need and helps them build a path to self-sufficiency. Now they need your help to raise the €15,000 needed to meet various expenses, which relate to securing housing and the autonomy and personal growth of the families welcomed. Only with your help can we achieve this goal. Thank you!
The Village of Joy is a special and unique place in Italy, one of the last projects that Don Oreste Benzi wanted to realize himself, in Forlì in the heart of Romagna.
The estrangement of a child from his or her family of origin is an extremely traumatic experience, capable of leaving deep wounds not only in the hearts of the little ones, but also in those of the parents. The Village of Joy aims to avoid such traumas by providing a safe and welcoming environment in which the entire welcomed family can live and receive the necessary assistance to cope with their difficulties.
The Village includes three family houses, three semi-independent mini-houses for parent-child nuclei and six independent apartments for families in need.
The fathers and mothers of the family homes, with their experience based on love and sharing, are able to create a "therapeutic environment" and relationships of trust and help with the parents of the families welcomed, thus helping them to overcome personal, economic or relational problems, without ever separating from their children. Together we build a path to a more peaceful future.
The Village of Joy needs your support for various needs, which relate to the safety, autonomy and personal growth of the welcomed families.
For the autonomy of the families, there is a need to repair the car provided, which would be needed not only for travel in the city, given the scarcity in the area of public transportation, but also to organize outings in the area and let the welcomed children, together with their parents, spend carefree and joyful moments.
Regarding safety, after many years since the Village was built, the houses are beginning to show signs of wear and tear, withwindows and doors in need of replacement, along with the need for a new kitchen. These maintenance works are also necessary because the houses are an asset of the Community and therefore it is essential to take the best care of them.
Finally, for the well-being and personal growth of the families taken in, it is essential to allow operators to attend specific training courses: taking in fragile and problematic families goes far beyond the simple desire to help; it requires specific skills and adequate tools to be able to cope with the most difficult situations.
The total requirement for the various needs is 15,000€. With your support, we can help them achieve this important goal and ensure that the families received all the help and support they need to build together a path to autonomy.
