Give Alain hope of recovery

Alain lives in Cameroon, he is 21 years old and has just been diagnosed with a rare disease that severely compromises his immune system. The cost of treatment is very high and his family, poor and without possibilities, cannot afford it. Alain is Yanik's brother, the head of a project of the Pope John XXIII Community in Cameroon and, like a family in which we help each other, today we must help him by giving him the chance to recover. Every person, wherever they are, deserves to be cured. Your help, now, is fundamental.

InCameroon, in the host home of the Pope John XXIII Community, for four years now Yanik has chosen to live alongside those boys who, once released from prison, have nothing and no one: without help their only alternative is the street. Yanik is in charge of this home and accompanies these boys in regaining their dignity after years of poverty and suffering.

The future of these boys is his life mission but today he is the one who needs you. His brother, Alain, has just been diagnosed with "Castleman's Disease," a rare disease that causes excessive and abnormal growth of cells in lymph nodes and other structures of the immune system. It causes fever, weight loss, weakness and compromises the immune system, which, weakened, cannot fight off normal infections.

The news came to us out of the blue; no one expected such a diagnosis. The cure for this disease exists but the necessary drugs are expensive and Yanik's family, poor and without opportunities, cannot afford them. It has been months now that doctors have offered Alain to start treatment, but he has not yet started treatment precisely because the costs are so high, about 1,500 euros a month. But Alain needs to be treated; he is in his early 20s, with a future yet to be written, and the ongoing pandemic in an already suffering country puts his fragile health even more at risk .

This cry for help comes to us from the very people who, together with Yanik, have been carrying out this Community Reception Project in Cameroon. Friends, who now extend their hand for him and with him so that his brother can receive proper care as soon as possible.
Like a family in which we help each other, today we are the ones who have to help Yanik to enable him to pay for his brother's care, at least for the first few days, until they can catch their breath and set aside a suitable amount to guarantee his care.

Create a fundraiser, share it with your acquaintances and friends, or support those who have already opened it with a donation. Every person, wherever they are, deserves to be treated, and today more than ever we are all aware of this. Your help now is crucial.
