Let's Build a Well for Turkana Together.
Fundraising by Valeria Albonetti
Hi, I'm Valeria, I'm 25 years old and since the end of July I have been in Nairobi as a White Helmet in civil service at the G9 Residential Center of the Pope John XXIII Community.
In Turkana, an arid and poor area in the north of Kenya, women, men, and children are forced to dig holes in dry riverbeds to be able to find water due to severe drought.
I had the opportunity to visit these villages thanks to Simone Ceciliani, who has been a missionary in Kenya for 12 years and is in charge of the current project. The urgency is to be able to help these people have access to clean water.
The Community is supporting some of these villages by distributing a quarterly dose of food to support school canteens but it is not enough. Continuing to drink dirty, undrinkable water puts the lives of these people at risk every day.
Having known their lives, I cannot close my eyes and remain indifferent. I asked myself how can I do my part? Choosing to open this fundraiser is a way to provide concrete help to these villages, to raise awareness and to make you a part of the project we would like to carry out from afar.
We want to build at least two wells to ensure access and the right to drinking water for these people, but the cost is very high (more than 120 thousand euros) and for this we need all the help we can get.
Together we can really make a difference. Come on, are you in!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone
Valeria
