Nicola and Donata are the father and mother of one of the welcoming families of the Pope John XXIII Community who open up to embrace and support anyone who is lonely, marginalized, and needs to feel loved and find a fixed point from which to start over.
Their family currently consists of four natural daughters - Cecilia, Diletta, Maddalena and Benedetta - and two little ones they have taken in as foster families, l. and M. For both of them, they have become their family, and thanks to the love they receive every day, they witness many small miracles that go beyond disability and suffering.
Nicola and Donata chose the Community because in it they found the joy of sharing life with the most fragile people and the beauty of being able to give themselves to others that they have always felt in their hearts.
This urge to share led them to understand the need for a house that would be suitable to guarantee this capacity to welcome: the Diocese joyfully welcomed the project by giving them the opportunity to live on loan to use the Rectory in Bertesina (Vicenza), a disused structure consisting of two floors and with an outdoor garden. Having been unused for some time, however, the house requires renovation of the interior spaces, including making the spaces up to standard. The removal of all architectural barriers, for example, is required, so accessible bathrooms for people with disabilities must be created, as well as ramps for wheelchairs, and rooms and environments must be adapted to the various types of care and custody we will be able to offer.
The expense facing the Community is significant, and Nicola and Donata cannot sustain it alone. That's why we are asking for all the help we can get: support them with a donation and multiply your help by activating an online fundraiser to share with your friends in support of the project. Come on, are you in?
