"They are good, they bring us food, but in a while they will go to their warm bed and we will stay here". It all started from this sentence, said by a homeless person. Every week we also go to the streets to bring help and above all our friendship to those who have nothing, but we didn't want to go back to our warm bed and forget about them. For this reason, together with our family, we opened a Bethlehem Hut (a shelter for the homeless) of the Pope John XXIII Community in Athens, where we welcome up to 11 people every night.
With our 5 children we moved here from Tuscany 4 years ago to open a Family House. In order to do even more, we built a small apartment to accommodate people who want to leave the street life behind. Now there are two boys living there who are taking their lives back in their hands.
The costs are many and the Pope John XXIII Community already does its utmost for us. We want to collect the necessary resources to cover the costs of a whole year of our activities: outings on the street, the hut, the mini-apartment. We need your help to be able to continue to guarantee our presence.
Kosta slept on a chair in a cabin on the beach. We didn't just help him, we welcomed him and loved him. Now he lives with us and our children. Now he is a man again (Filippo, father of the Family House in Athens).
