I will be arriving for the first time in the Community of Peace of San José de Apartadó in March 2022, right on the occasion of the 25* anniversary of its founding.

I was immediately welcomed as if I had always lived here and I felt deeply involved in a struggle that unites people from different times and places: the struggle for land, which allows life and provides means of subsistence.

TheCdP, in fact, is located in a territory with immense environmental wealth and, for this reason, has been disputed by various armed actors. The scene of unspeakable atrocities and the result of displacements, the CdP has found the courage to continue its determined presence in the territory, becoming an example of peaceful resistance at a global level.

Iconsciously chose to live an all-encompassing experience because, during the pandemic, I had the opportunity to deeply question myself on how I wanted to build a better future for myself and for others, but above all on who I wanted to become. Too often, in fact, we believe that the loneliness that is imposed on us by an inhuman system is necessary, that it is no longer possible to reverse the march to learn again to be a community, in which we take care of ourselves, of others and of Nature that surrounds us.

The same Nature that the self-styled progress is destroying, just as it happens to the CdP, which is a model of resilient resistance for all, but at the same time needs an accompaniment that protects its fragility, being immersed in a hostile context.

Defending the Community means defending the Planet, defending everyone, defending ourselves.
