The solidarity pot

Hello everyone! I am Francesca, a volunteer in Ndola, Zambia, with the Pope John XXIII Community. I arrived in this beautiful land in August and I am following the Cicetekelo Youth Project. It is a model of intervention for street children and is an emergency, prevention and long-term program based on a holistic approach that recognizes the specificity of each child and provides tailored assistance accordingly. Each year the project assists over 300 children by providing them with shelter, food, education, vocational training, recreational activities, moral and spiritual formation, and employment opportunities in an effort to reintegrate them into their families. My days with them are never monotonous or empty, on the contrary! They are full of emotions, activities, smiles and hugs. I share everything with them: from breakfast, to math classes, to basketball/soccer games, to lunch. One of the most important moments is in fact the meal: many of them do not have the certainty of being able to eat during their days and it is thanks to the Cicetekelo project that they manage to have at least one hot meal a day. Unfortunately, however, due to a malfunction, the industrial equipment that allowed us to feed them has burnt out, thus risking not being able to guarantee the 300 meals that we prepare every day.Precisely for this reason we need your help! One small gesture can make a difference and your contribution can continue to guarantee a hot meal to the children and young people of Cicetekelo. Thank you very much for the help you will give! Natotela Sana!
