Let's grow Justice
Fundraising by Beatrice Maffioletti
Hello everyone and everyone,
my name is Beatrice and for the past year I have been living in Cameroon, in a community that welcomes ex-convicts, street kids and people with different vulnerabilities, for a path of re-education, social and professional reintegration. The activities that take place outside the two shelters aim to fight against recidivism and incarceration, especially of minors from the age of 14, to achieve greater social justice .
The work being done is fundamental and has enormous potential, but unfortunately, some of the means necessary to support all the daily activities are still lacking: to travel throughout the region and reach the 5 prisons where they work, many hours are required to travel by local means (vans turned into minibuses, cabs, and motorcycle cabs) that are unreliable, overcrowded, and often dangerous. The roads in Cameroon are also often in very poor condition and during the rainy season months they become veritable rivers of mud, making the community's work, already full of great challenges and difficulties, almost impossible.
Every day, volunteers and operators lose many precious hours of work on these trips, hours that should instead be spent standing by the side of the many people in need .
Moving from prison to prison and courthouse to courthouse takes an inordinate amount of energy, money and time , and in so many situations,it would require a timeliness that instead cannot be guaranteed in this way.
Many times, during our year in Cameroon, there have been situations where having a private and safe means of getting around would have made all the difference: hearings in Courts in different cities on the same day, visits to the families of acolytes in remote villages, medical emergencies ...
With this collection, I ask you to give us a hand: we would like to be able to purchase a safe vehicle to continue these life-changing activities for so many people!
Thank you for your precious help,
A hug
Beatrice
