Let us together defend the right to clean water!

Jambo (Hello)!
My name is Francesca Lacognata, I am 23 years old, from Modica, and I am currently in Nairobi, Kenya, doing my year of community service with the Pope John XXIII Community.
One of the projects carried out by the Community is in Turkana, one of the driest and poorest lands in the world located in the north of Kenya. Here, food and supplies are delivered every three months for the village children's school canteen.
It has not rained in Turkana for almost three years, and in order not to die of thirst, the population is forced to drink the water they find by digging shallow holes in dry riverbeds. But drinking dirty, undrinkable water on a daily basis creates serious health problems, especially in children.
The Pope John XXIII Community wants to build two wells in the villages of Moite and Altugo to provide drinking water for 3,000 people and about 500 residents of nearby villages. To do this it needs all the help it can get because the costs are so high, just drilling one well costs about 20 thousand euros.
I have had the opportunity to visit these villages, to see where they get what we would never call "water" from , I have seen too many children feel bad about this injustice. The population unfortunately has no other choice.
I personally decided to support this project to give a voice to the people in these villages who are far from our world and do not have a chance to be heard.
Water is a primary, indispensable commodity that we all have a right to.
Every contribution can make a difference!
As Don Puglisi used to say, "And if each of us does something, then a lot can be done."
Come on, are you in?
A hug to those who will support me,
Francesca.
