A school for my daughter
S. is 14 years old and has lived in a Pope John XXIII Community Home since she was a child because of her cognitive disability. She is due to start high school in September, like all her peers, but she, because of her needs and frailty, needs a school appropriate to her needs and educators to look after her. For the school and all the educational support she will need, the costs are very high. Help us raise the necessary funds to enable her to go to school.

The Pope John XXIII Community approached me when she was born and right away a strong bond was created between us. With me she found a home to grow up in and a family that loves her, and I found joy in being a mother to such a special child.

Although she has now achieved clinical stability, she always needs a lot of support and I in fact left my job to follow her.
Now I am faced with a very delicate choice to make: which high school to choose for her needs and frailty. Unfortunately, S. cannot attend just any high school....
Her condition makes it very difficult for her to relate to others but like any other girl her age she wants to have friends and she has the right to have friends. It is important to find an environment that will protect and stimulate her properly. In addition, she needs to follow a differentiated program, a Support Teacher and the presence of a Professional Educator to follow her, because independently she cannot attend classes.
The costs for tuition, enrollment, the Professional Educator (partly guaranteed by the state) and the Support Teacher are very high: about 11,650€ is needed per year, an amount that I will then have to find for all 5 school years.
Although I know what is best for her, I cannot do it alone. I can only ask for your help and it is from this need that this fundraiser was born, with the hope that so many of you can help me by opening an online fundraiser and asking your friends to support her. Thanks to you, I want to be able to raise the necessary funds to cover at least the first school year...I want to allow her to have what is best for her and what all her peers have. As any mother would do in my same situation, I am looking for every avenue and every possible help to allow my daughter to have what she is entitled to.
