Renovating the bathroom: a project for little Frederick

The 'Marta' family home, a reality of hospitality of the Pope John XXIII Community, needs your help to raise €13,500 needed to renovate the bathroom, which is essential to make the home a welcoming and comfortable place for everyone, including those with severe disabilities or mobility difficulties. Help them too!

A place where one can feel welcomed and loved
The "Marta" family home is a welcoming reality of the Pope John XXIII Community opened in 2000 in Padulle di Sala Bolognese.

The mother and father of the family home are Sara and Roberto, who after getting to know Don Oreste and family homes understood, as very young engaged couples, that their life project together had to be based on welcoming the most fragile and defenseless.

Over the years, the home has opened its doors to lonely and abandoned children, girls snatched from street life, people placed on recovery paths and, for the past decade, also to children and adults with disabilities, including little Federico, with severe cognitive and motor disabilities. Each of them has found here the warmth of a family, a safe haven where they can regenerate and grow, a place where they can finally feel welcomed and loved.

A safe and comfortable bathroom for little Federico
Mother Sara, father Roberto and their six children, four natural and two welcomed, currently live in the house.

Sara and Roberto pay special attention to little Federico, who, with his severe cognitive and motor disabilities, faces daily challenges that for many of us are taken for granted everyday actions. One of these is access to the bathroom, which is too small to accommodate his wheelchair and lacks the proper furniture and equipment to help him perform all the daily gestures necessary for his care, which become tiring for both the parents and the little one.

Now they need our help, so they can renovate the bathroom, making the rooms suitable for providing much easier and safer daily care.

The renovation work will involve redoing floors, wall tiles, replacing the plumbing and electrical system, replacing all sanitary fixtures and the front door; the total cost is €13,500. With your invaluable help, we will be able totransform this house into a welcoming and comfortable place for everyone, including those with severe disabilities or mobility difficulties, such as one of the family's grandparents who is confined to a wheelchair. Together, we will be able to create a space where everyone can feel at home.

You can support this project in two ways:
  • Donate to an already active personal fundraiser: any contribution, even the smallest, will make a difference.
  • If, on the other hand, you want to do something even bigger, activate a personal fundraiser and help us engage many new people we otherwise could not reach by asking your friends, family and colleagues to support you with a donation.
