Ready to take flight
E. was only 17 when her parents sold her and forced her to go to Italy. Mistreated and forced to sell her body, she found hope again when she was welcomed into the Family House of Fabrizio and Raffaella of the Pope John XXIII Community. She is now 23 years old, has two children and is ready to build a family of her own in a new home. But she can't do it alone: only your help can really help her to look to the future with more serenity.
E. was only 17 years old when her parents sold her and forced her to go to Italy: at that age, according to them, she was old enough to earn and contribute financially to the family. E.'s journey to our country passed through Libya and unfortunately we all know what happens in those border areas: you are treated like an object, imprisoned, tortured.
Her nightmare did not end even when, by now exhausted, she arrived in Italy. In this free, democratic, civilised country, E., little more than a child, was put on the street, deprived of everything and forced to sell her body to unscrupulous clients.
She becomes pregnant and in this new life growing inside her she finds the courage to escape from her oppressors. E. needed a real home, a place where she could feel safe, and people who would help her build her future... she needed a family.
Fabrizio and Raffaella, who have been part of the Pope John XXIII Community for more than 20 years, welcomed her into their Family House in Alessandria, as they had done with so many before her, opening the doors of their home and their hearts to her.
E. is now 23 years old and has two wonderful children. Now her eyes shine with a powerful light, the light of a little girl who has become a woman who has found her dignity and, step by step, is designing her life.
Thanks to her strength of will she has managed to get a work grant paid with 300 euros per month. Fabrizio and Raffaella are still by her side , but the time has come for this young woman to stand on her own two feet, as many people of her age would like to do. She and her children, however, still need a little help, one last "push" to take flight with confidence.
Alone and with her 300 euros a month she cannot afford the rent of an apartment where she can finally build a family of her own, but we can help her.
This is why we are asking you to help us raise at least 6,000 euros to cover the rent of an apartment for one year and to support the initial expenses of this new family. That is 500 euros per month.
Bygiving her concrete help today, a support to lean on - the support that a parent tries to give to his children when they are facing life for the first time - we will allow her to look to the future with more serenity. Your help can really change this mother's life. Let's help her together.
