From Zambia to Panama for WYD

Charles and Hassan from the Community Cicetekelo Project have a dream: to go to World Youth Day 2019, and then return to give back to those left behind hope, ideas and a new energy.

Charles and Hassan are two young Zambians aged 18 and 24.
Both orphaned by their parents, they experienced a very difficult childhood during which they suffered from hunger and poverty.
Then, fortunately, they met the Cicetekelo project of the Pope John XXIII Community which, in the outskirts of Ndola (Zambia), restores dignity and hope to street children, helping them to reintegrate into their families and into society. Here, together with hundreds of other children, they have lived in safety, finished their studies and begun to build a future for themselves. Both of them will have their birthday in December and would like to see a little big dream come true: to participate in World Youth Day, which will take place in Panama from 20 to 29 January 2019, get in touch with young people from all over the world and learn how to build bridges of peace. This is how their trip will unfold:
  • January 14: departure from Zambia and arrival in Italy;
  • January 14 - 20: meetings for testimonies;
  • January 20: departure from the airport of Bologna to Panama for WYD;
  • January 20 - 29: World Youth Day;
  • January 30 - February 5: meetings for testimonies and return to Zambia

.
After this experience, Charles and Hassan will return to Zambia enriched by the experience and will be able to tell and give back to those who stayed there hope, ideas, confidence and a new energy.
