A car for the mission in Bucharest
Fundraising by Elena Chinaglia
For over 20 years, the Pope John XXIII Community has been committed to building a welcoming community on the Romanian territory, where each person feels part of a big family, where sharing and solidarity are the basis of all relationships.
In Bucharest, Community members and volunteers are a dynamic presence for and with the territory. Among them is Valentina, my daughter, who has chosen to live her vocation there with the Community.
Two evenings a week they go out on the streets, meeting the people who live there, making them feel seen and considered, offering them a hot meal. They offer moments of recreation and joy to children in the poorest neighborhoods, they go to institutions that take in orphaned and disabled children or youth, giving them sharing and closeness.
To get around the city, they have only an old bus at their disposal , which being bulky and worn out, is used exclusively for trips or to pick up clothing or food. They are thus forced to use transportation, which, however, greatly lengthens travel time even to cover short distances.
To be able to move quickly in a city as large as Bucharest, they need a car, which costs €15,000. In this way they would be able to carry out their activities more efficiently and have more time available to help people in need to whom they dedicate themselves passionately every day.
As parents we have chosen to support this project because we know all the love and strength that Valentina takes from Christ to be at the service of the last ones, she as well as the other boys who live the mission.
Support them too: every donation can really make a difference for them!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
