A home for all of us
Fundraising by Madou Yanka
I am Madou Yanka, originally from Sierra Leone. I arrived in Italy in 2005, accepted by the Pope John XXIII Community, in the Family House of Anna and Paolo Tonelotto in Cittadella (PD).
For over 15 years this has been my family, where I have been able to live a serene life after the great drama I experienced in Sierra Leone, where my family of origin was exterminated by rebels, right in front of my eyes, in the bloody diamond war.
Thehouse where I currently live is beginning to feel the weight of the life I have shared over the last 35 years, and Paolo and Anna, my new parents, have to do some essential work: the water system, including the sewage system, and the reconstruction of the courtyard, which has become dangerous for the many disabled people who live in the family home. Even I personally, having difficulty walking, often risk falling.
There are currently 9 people living in the family home, 6 of whom are handicapped.
I kindly ask you to contribute to the collection of funds needed for the work that needs to be done in the structure. Any contribution, even small, is welcome and will be useful. I trust in the help of many of you who know me, to be able to help my family to finish these essential works as soon as possible.
A big hug.
Madou
