A better future for Lucija
Fundraising by Giada Pizzano
Hi, I'm Giada and I had the opportunity to meet Lucija during my year of community service at the Family House "Saint Mary Untying the Knots" where she lives with her family.
Lucija is a 12-year-old girl, and she is the daughter of Ivana and Roberto, members of the Pope John XXIII Community who have chosen to dedicate their lives to welcoming into their Family Home anyone who needs a mom and dad, for a while or forever.
Lucija, unfortunately, has suffered from birth from a rare malformation, which caused her to have dysmetria in her lower limbs. Over the years, the increased dysmetria forced her to wear an orthopedic shoe with a rather heavy elevation, as well as having to endure increasing hip, foot, and back pain.
Today Lucjia has the opportunity to undergo leg lengthening surgery, based on an experimental methodology that is less invasive and, above all, much less painful than the traditional one, the cost of which is €60,000 and is not covered by the National Health Service. With your help we can enable her to have the surgery and start living the life she has always dreamed of, without limitations, just like all her peers.
I know Lucija and she is a sweet and sunny girl, but this condition of hers, besides causing her physical pain, makes her uncomfortable as it limits her in her daily activities. I believe that both she and her family deserve help.
Your donation can make a difference. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
