We break fasts, create bonds

In September 2025, we settled in Quseyr (Homs) and, day by day, we are realizing that material destruction is only a part of the deep pain and trauma that people carry inside. There is so much desire to rebuild, to restore one's community and to leave behind the fear to start thinking about the future. This year Ramadan and Lent fall at the same time, and together with a local youth group we are organizing interfaith meetings to break the Muslim fast together at sundown. These are opportunities for sharing between different communities that have experienced the conflict in different places and ways over the past 12 years and are now coming together to look for ways to experience public space in this Syria that has been destroyed not only structurally but also socially. In particular, we are inviting friends and friends from the riff (countryside) of Quseyr, characterized by a dearth of services and opportunities to meet, to participate. There are those who do the shopping, those who cook, and those who take care of the logistics-all and all of us are committed/committed to involving as many people as possible. We will need to buy food and drinks, pay for the rent of the hall, reimbursement for transportation and the work of the kitchen workers, and decorative materials...simple things that, however, have a cost. This project can generate a concrete and long-term impact, small but big steps in the direction of a future where we envision ourselves as one big Syrian community. If you would like to support us, please participate in this fundraising campaign as much as you can, small or big it doesn't matter. As Danilo Dolci said "everyone grows only when dreamed of" and we are dreaming big here.Thank you!

As Danilo Dolci said "everyone grows only when dreamed of" and we are dreaming big here.

The fundraiser supports the project: Operation Dove in Syria and Lebanon - 2026
Total project goal: 15.000 €

Operation Dove volunteers share life and work alongside Syrian refugees in refugee camps in Lebanon. Since 2024, they have also started making periodic trips to Syria to monitor the situation. Supporting volunteers, helping and protecting them, means still believing in the strength of relationships and the peace that comes from staying close and dreaming together.
