For a more inclusive world
Fundraising by Silvia Quintanilla
Since 2005 in Santiago, Chile, the Sol Project has been working to include low-income deaf people through different activities. It began by sharing with children helping them to do their homework, mothers with deaf children who were unaware of the deaf world, and young people who expressed themselves through theater in LSCh.
Personally I am participating since its origins, without knowing how to communicate with them, very timidly I was incorporating the use of sign language and this opened an interesting world where to date there are many challenges to face especially when the fact of not hearing, people fail to have an active participation in society, and even more if they are people with few economic resources, low education, and also if they are WOMEN.
We are currently facing many financial difficulties to be able to plan for the year 2024, so we have started this fundraising campaign that will allow us to continue to exist and carry out recreational, educational, awareness and cultural activities for deaf people.
It is not easy to break communication barriers and overcome old paradigms that disadvantage people with disabilities, for my part I have learned to value diversity and recognize how each of the Deaf and Disabled People that I meet only motivate me to continue to take steps together so that we can embody equal opportunities, in simple things and also everyday, like shopping, take a walk, know new places empower and empower us to make this world more INCLUSIVE.
So here is our plea for help: help us raise the amount needed to keep Project Sunshine open for everyone!
We need to cover the annual costs of the facilities (6,000€/5,544,408$) and the costs of hiring an occupational therapist (5,000€/4,620,340$), a key professional figure to help deaf women develop employable skills and personal abilities.
Support the activities of "Project Sun" with a donation and multiply your help by starting an online fundraiser to share with your friends and raise even more together. Your support is essential to continue feeding the light of inclusion and integration.
