Patagonia: side by side with the little ones

My name is Nadia and in July and August 2023 I was in the Puerto Madryn mission in Patagonia Argentina. In particular I supervised after-school activities in two barrios of the city, where so many children need first of all to be welcomed and listened to, to find smiles and people who have time to devote to them. They need to feel valuable and important to someone. In this welcoming atmosphere, we try to review and deepen, but more often, too often, we teach reading, writing and counting to even older children who are almost illiterate. Without after-school programs, then, how could one dream of a future for young Argentines? What future would an illiterate adult who is unable to manage the family economy or work contracts have?Maurizio, the project manager, with perseverance and passion, works day after day to create bonds, to overcome loneliness, to bring the most distant barrios closer together. To move among the barrios and make all these children feel welcomed, wanted and cared for, he needs a proper vehicle!A vehicle capable of dealing with Patagonian dust, potholes and jumps in dirt roads that fill with water after every rain. Don't let too bumpy a road stop the chance to give Patagonia's kids a future! Come on, are you in? Help and support the project with a donation. Thank you!

Total project goal: 20.000 €

In Patagonia, the Puerto Madryn center of the Pope John XXIII Community supports 43 disadvantaged children, providing education and meals to those from poor families and living in violent contexts. A new bus would help them reach difficult places and extend after-school care to even more children. Difficult winter weather conditions make the situation worse, especially for families with disabilities. The bus is essential to distribute material and emotional support during cold weather. Help them now.
