I don't want to stand by and you?

On November 1 I will leave with Operation Dove (the nonviolent peace corps of the Pope John XXIII Community) for a 3-month experience in Lebanon, in Syrian refugee camps. Some called me crazy, leaving everything behind to go.... Others, however, envy my courage, saying I am a "hero." I feel neither, but just a person who decided to try to go and see this reality for myself. To try to experience and share the suffering and difficulties of the Syrian people. A people who have been in exile for more than 10 years. A people that since 2011 has been suffering the effects of a war that is no longer talked about, but which continues to bring pain. A people that asks for nothing more than a little peace. A people who must not be abandoned!And what can I do but try to give a smile and some hope? And what can you do? Operation Dove volunteers share life and work alongside Syrian refugees still living in camps across the country. Supporting, helping and protecting them means still believing in the strength of relationships and the peace that comes from staying close and dreaming together.
