Let not what is due in justice be given in charity.

I'm Marta, I'm 23 years old and I decided to spend 3 months of my life on the island of Lesbos where there are 2,000 refugees from Afghanistan, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Somalia, who now live in the camp of Mavrovouni, better known as Moria 2.We volunteers are committed to listening to their stories in a mutual exchange and to providingsupport and assistance to many families who have left beyond the borders of their homeland in the hope of being welcomed and recognised as people.I have seentheir wounded eyes screaming for help, I have seen so much anger and frustration but also so much desire for redemption from an indifferent Europe that burns their dreams and tramples on their rights, such as freedom and dignity. The real mission for us volunteers is to choose to "be there" for these people, to offer our hand to those who simply ask for nothing more than to exist and to be recognized as children of the same land.I firmly believe that each of us, in our own small way, can do something great to give voice to those who have none. I need, we need your contribution now. THANK YOU.

The fundraiser supports the project: I have a brother in Lesbos waiting for me.
Total project goal: 58.900 €

Thousands of men, women and children who have fled war and misery arrive at the Lesbos refugee camp in Greece with the hope of a new beginning, but here they discover only more suffering. The Pope John XXIII Community has chosen to be in Lesbos to share the drama of this humanity, to give a voice to these unheard people. The presence of the Community's volunteers and of Operazione Colomba (the Community's non-violent peace corps) and the reception in the family house in Athens is indispensable: help us to be present alongside the men, women and children who are suffering in desperate silence. They need us now.
