CEC. Man is not his mistake
Not having contributions from public or private entities we need the help of people who, like you, do not lose faith in man.
Anger, resentment, resentment... can these devastating effects be recovered from the prison system made of walls, gates, keys and a lot of loneliness, abandonment and despair? Can this system correct, educate and rehabilitate those who have suffered violence or failures in life?
It is not enough just to hope that that person will not return to harming himself or others, it is necessary to help him, re-educating him in love. This is the basic idea behind the CEC Project (educating community with prisoners) of the Pope John XXIII Community and this is exactly what we do, for example, at Casa Betania: we welcome prisoners who ask to serve their sentences in an alternative way, putting themselves at the service of others and of the community, with a single purpose: to teach love for themselves and for others(to discover this reality at first hand you can see the service of the programme "Le Iene" on the alternative prison).
Because no one is so bad that they don't have anything good to give to others.
Today there are more than 250 places reserved for those who follow the path proposed by the ECC method, distributed in 7 ECCs as well as in our family homes and shelters throughout Italy. In addition, we offer daily support and accompaniment to inmates who are serving their sentence in prison.
We don't want and can't stop: in Italy the daily cost for a single prisoner is about 150€, in our shelters it is around 35€.
