We walk hand in hand with children in Patagonia
Fundraising by Maurizio Riba
In Puerto Madryn, Argentina's Patagonia, to reach our after-school locations and the families we help, we travel on dirt roads in difficult conditions that become almost impassable on rainy days.
Thanks to the after-school program we give children a chance for a better future: the state education system is practically nonexistent and the children can barely read and write. Most arrive at age 12 completely illiterate, thus becoming adults who have no prospects or capacity to change their history.
All this is exacerbated in very poor family contexts, which often also have major issues of violence. I and the other staff and volunteers at the center offer these children a space for learning, sharing and a small meal, because many families do not even have food to bring to the table.
A new bus will be a valuable ally in being able to reach places that are difficult to access and most importantly will ensure the after-school program for even more children.
Help us walk with them and help even more families. You can donate to this fundraiser or do even more: activate your own fundraiser to share with your contacts. Your help is a valuable presence here on mission with us.
