Since 2022, I have spent several months accompanying the Peace Community of San José de Apartadó wearing the jersey of Operation Dove. The privilege and responsibility of serving in the role of international escort in order to ensure the safety of these people has made this experience of sharing a precious time, dense with meaning.

The tragic events of last March 19 accentuated the difficulties of living in a conflict zone under the constant threat of armed groups, in an environment where violence suddenly and brutally manifests itself. Alongside this, however, is the hunger for life and justice of those in the community who continue with their project of nonviolent defense of human rights and territory despite the cost that this choice entails.

Supporting Operation Dove means believing in the continuity of a seemingly impossible process in an increasingly dangerous country and world for social leaders and all people resisting military, economic and environmental oppression.
