A car to be close to those in need
Valentina and Mariaserena are part of the Pope John XXIII Community and every day in Bucharest they offer welcome, sharing and support to those in need. Now they need your help to raise the €15,500 needed to realize their dream of buying a car, essential for their daily commute.
Valentina and Mariaserena are part of the Pope John XXII Community and, every day in Bucharest, they strive to build together a welcoming community, where each person feels part of a big family, where sharing and solidarity are the basis of all relationships.
They passionately participate in all those activities aimed at those in need: they support the friars in activities aimed at the homeless, bringing comfort and support. They offer moments of recreation and joy to children in the poorest neighborhoods, collaborating with the Sisters of Mother Teresa. They go to institutions that take in children and youth with disabilities, offering them sharing and closeness. They often go out into the streets, meeting the people who live there, making them feel seen and considered, offering them a hot meal.
The beating heart of their mission is to be there: to be present, to listen from the heart, to welcome and bring a smile through play.
Valentina and Mariaserena in Bucharest also run a foster home, where two young people in civil service and two sheltered boys currently live with them on a permanent basis. However, they like to call their house a lake port, because in addition to being close to a lake, during the day so many other people frequent the house: from the boys they meet during the street units, to the people in the neighborhood, to the families they have met by attending the parish, workplaces and the various realities where they are supportive, to those who just pass by for a coffee, a movie or a chat admiring the lake in front of the house and enjoying this joyful and numerous company.
For their daily activities in the city, they rely on public transportation, but the travel time, even for short distances, often proves exhausting. Bucharest is a very large city, and getting around by transportation alone or on foot becomes very challenging. They currently have only an old minibus, which being bulky and worn out, is only used for trips or to pick up clothing or food.
Therefore they now need your help to purchase a car, the cost of which is 15,500€. Together, we can help them achieve this goal, enabling them to move with agility and speed, without having to sacrifice valuable time they could instead devote to supporting those in need.
