A leather goods to sew life back together

In the leather workshop "Another Skin" of the Coop. Sociale "Il Pungiglione" of the Comunità Papa Giovanni XXIII, young girls torn from the streets find their freedom by learning a trade, with commitment and dedication. This is how they become, after years of slavery, the protagonists of their own dignity. With your support we can guarantee all this to other girls who are victims of trafficking and who have the right to grow, train and live as free and independent women.

Juliet, Evidence, Blessing are daughters, women, workers. But they have not always been this: before being welcomed into the Comunità Papa Giovanni XXIII by Alessandro and his wife Claudia , they were slaves of the street, victims of this modern slavery that nullifies the person, rights and dignity.
In Alessandro and Claudia's house they found a family, a place where they could feel like beloved daughters and finally protected. Alessandro, however, as every father wants for his children, wanted to do something more for the future, he wanted to teach them a trade, to ensure that the change of life would be lasting. And it is precisely for this reason that the leather workshop "Another Skin" was born in Pontassieve, thanks to the Community, the Social Cooperative "Il Pungiglione" and other local associations. Here, by learning the art of leather processing, these women live their new-found freedom with dignity and independence.

The hides processed are often waste donated by well-known companies operating in the sector that would otherwise be thrown away, but in the workshop they take on a new form. In a world that throws away waste, here it is transformed and becomes a point of strength. Bags, backpacks, belts... behind every object, unique and unrepeatable, created by hands freed from the slavery of the street there is the story of a life saved.
The girls had no experience before starting, they had no education and Alessandro, with other professional volunteers, started a training course starting from the most basic aspects to allow them to succeed in this project of growth. Now it is necessary to do more to allow other girls to learn, grow, train and undertake this path to freedom but to succeed in all this we need the support of many.

Help us to guarantee other girls like Juliet, Evidence and Blessing a new life.

Create and start a fundraiser, share it with your acquaintances and friends, or support those who have already opened it with a donation. Together we will really help these girls to regain the dignity that for too long has been unjustly denied to them. Thank you for what you can do.
