A new kitchen to take care of each other

Daniele and Valentina are the father and mother of the Family House "Sinfonia," a reality of the Pope John XXIII Community that welcomes children, youth and people in fragile conditions. Now they need your help to raise the €4,000 needed to realize their dream of buying a new kitchen, more functional and suitable for the needs of their large family.

A family like a symphony
We are Valentina and Daniele and we got married in 2009 with the desire to create a large and welcoming family. In 2015, we realized our dream by opening a Family House of the Pope John XXIII Community, naming it "Sinfonia." The choice of the name is not accidental: Valentina, a musician and music therapist, sees in the symphony a perfect image of our family. Just as in a symphony different instruments and melodies coexist in harmony, enhancing each other, in our home people with different histories and characteristics find a place where they feel welcomed and appreciated.

Over the years, the "Symphony" represented by our family has been enriched with new special notes; to our four natural children, we have added: Yasmin and Marwa, two sisters aged 17 and 14, little Alif aged 4, Andrea a 37-year-old disabled boy, Mamadou a 20-year-old boy from Mali, and finally Agnese, who like them is part of the Community. Each of them, with their uniqueness, has contributed to creating an environment, where diversity is seen as an asset and welcome is the basis for creating harmonious coexistence.

The kitchen is the heart of our family's life.
In order to accommodate more and more people in 2020, we moved to a more spacious home, where they decided to keep the old kitchen dating back to the 1990s, which as of today has various structural problems due to wear and tear and use.

For us, the kitchen is more than just a place to prepare meals. It is the beating heart of our home, where we gather, especially in the evening hours, when the day's commitments finally give way to time to spend together. Here our bonds are strengthened and important moments of sharing and discussion are created.

In addition to being worn out, our kitchen is also small to accommodate our full family. The cabinets, with their limited capacity, struggle to hold everything we need, while the cramped countertop makes it difficult to prepare meals all together. Andrea, who lives with a disability, would like to make her own toast for breakfast. However, the faulty stove, which no longer turns on automatically, forces him to constantly ask for help, limiting his independence.

To realize our dream of a new kitchen requires €5,800. Thanks to the generosity of many people, we have already managed to raise part of the needed amount. However, 4,000€ is still missing to reach the goal. With your help we will finally be able to realize our dream and transform our kitchen into a cozy place where we can build new precious memories.
