A well of hope for the family of Enzo and Orietta
The Family House "Mother Teresa" of the Pope John XXIII Community over the years has given shelter and love to drug addicts, alcoholics, people living on the streets, girls forced into slavery, teenagers, children, people with mental problems and prisoners. Now they need your help to raise the €17,000 needed to build a new well so that water will always be available for the daily needs of the whole family. Enzo and Orietta are the father and mother of the Mother Teresa Family House, a shelter of the Pope John XXIII Community located in Fiorenzuola d'Arda. Their family consists of 12 people: along with Enzo and Orietta in their home live two boys aged 21 and 23 who were welcomed into their family when they were very young, four adults, Enzo's mother, their daughter Silvia, an 11-year-old girl welcomed at two and a half years of age, and Don Adamo, a priest who also belongs to the Community.
Enzo and Orietta's family now faces a very difficult situation. They live in the open countryside and do not have the possibility of connecting to the aqueduct; this forces them to rely on an alternative water source.
For 30 years they have been using their neighbor's well, but now this well, which is about 40 years old, is causing various problems, forcing them to often use jerry cans and bottles for daily needs, a solution, which, although temporary, is unsustainable in the long run.
In order to make the water drinkable even for drinking, Enzo and Orietta are using a purification plant; however, this implies that expensive checks must be carried out periodically to verify the potability of the water. Added to this is the constant worry of being without water in the event of a power outage or well pump failure.
Never before have they understood, as at this moment, how water is a precious and indispensable commodity. Therefore, they are now asking for help: they need €17,000 to build a new well. With your support we can help them achieve this goal and give serenity and security to their life and family.
Enzo and Orietta, after getting married and having their first child, despite having a seemingly perfect life of work, friends and commitment to volunteer work, began to feel that there was still a gap to be filled. Meeting Don Oreste gave them the turning point: after listening to his words, something moved in their hearts. They felt a strong call, a deep need to expand their family and open the door of their home to those who needed it most.
By starting their Family Home, they were finally able to give meaning to their lives, taking in people with very painful histories over the years: drug addicts, alcoholics, people who lived on the streets, girls forced into slavery, teenagers, children, people with mental problems and even prisoners.
