We support urgent care for one of our missionaries
Lorella, a missionary of the Pope John XXIII Community in Bolivia, has dedicated her life to welcoming the most vulnerable: single mothers, the homeless and those struggling with addiction. Now she needs our help to tackle an urgent operation in Bergamo, costing €17,000. Let's help her reach this goal so she can return to her mission and continue to make a difference in the lives of those who have lost all hope.
She has put her whole life into it, every day.
First in Italy and for more than 20 years in Bolivia, in La Paz, where she shares her life with people on the margins, single mothers, men living on the streets with addiction problems.
Shehas taken them into her home as children when they had no place to stay, and has gone out to find them when she knew they were in danger. She supported them, step by step, in their recovery journey, taking them by the hand along the path of reintegration into society, teaching them a trade and always believing in each of them.
For years she struggled daily with the pains caused by a precarious health condition, but she always took a back seat to the needs of her boys, whose care she never stopped.
Today, however, she cannot wait any longer: her health condition has rapidly deteriorated and she needs to undergo urgent surgery at Bergamo Hospital. According to the timetable of the national health care system, he should wait no less than two years, but given his condition he needs to have it done urgently, so the only option is to do it privately.
To cover the costs of the trip back to Italy, the surgery and hospitalization, €17,000 is needed and the Pope John XXIII Community, the family of which she is a part and which has received so much from her, is working to find these funds and allow her to return to better health as soon as possible.
We have opened this fundraiser so that all the people who knew her and wish to make her feel close to us can help defray the cost of the surgery.
Together we can send her all our love and allow her to return as soon as possible to Bolivia, to the people to whom she has dedicated her whole life and who count on her.
