A Hope for Peace in Ukraine

"A missile hit a bus here in Kherson, near the center where we do daily activities; it killed the driver and injured some people. Our friends knew two of them and went to visit them in the hospital: one boy lost a kidney; the other had a perforation of the jaw, he is safe only because the shrapnel did not sever vital parts...but he was in the hospital when he heard that his father died at the front. As soon as he gets out he will go to his funeral." This is war. "The Dom Kulturi, a building we are helping to repair, may be bombed again. People are deciding whether to use it for meeting and prayer opportunities or not to go there because it is too risky. This is terrible because it shifts the responsibility not to those who bomb but to those who choose to be or not to be in Kherson, or in that place that will maybe be bombed, maybe not." This is war. "The local community has gathered to pray, to ask to be protected, so that this place of distribution of aid, of meetings, of hope will not be destroyed. To us it seems impossible to entrust one's life to prayer, we seem to have to be rational in certain situations ... but rationality would lead to what? There are people who choose to stay: either leave them alone or stay with them. How can one choose to live for oneself or for others? Perhaps it is a mystery, however, there are flashes of light, albeit small, that must be followed." This is a hope for Peace in Ukraine. Together we can do so much with your support. The fundraiser supports the project: Operation Dove in Ukraine - 2026
Total project goal: 15.000 €

Since March 2022 Operation Dove has been present in Ukraine, first in Lviv, Kiev and Odessa, currently in Mykolaïv and Kherson. Supporting the presence of Operation Dove volunteers means not leaving the most fragile people in conflict-affected territories alone and concretely supporting the efforts of those who want to respond to violence with solidarity.
