A drop

More or less four years ago, just before I started my doctorate, I left for Lebanon with Operation Dove (Nonviolent Peace Corps of the Pope John XXIII Community), engaged daily in standing beside Syrian refugees.Among the many things that marked me, I often recount the ease with which I became reacquainted with our daily routine and privileges. In Lebanon, the health care system is highly privatized; free medical services are practically nonexistent. If you don't have money to give birth or pay for an operation, they don't even welcome you in the hospital.Among the tasks we had as volunteers was, where possible, to help Syrian refugees with the most immediate and concrete needs, including, for example: buying medicines, helping to cover the cost of surgeries or the cost of transportation to clinics and hospitals. It's not a structured approach, it doesn't solve the sea of problems that refugees face, but one operation or one medicine changes the daily lives of individuals. If anyone would like to contribute this is the right space. The money raised will go to support Operation Dove's presence in the refugee camp and expenses to help Syrian families most in need.Thank you all.

More or less four years ago, just before I started my doctorate, I left for Lebanon with Operation Dove (Nonviolent Peace Corps of the Pope John XXIII Community), engaged daily in standing beside Syrian refugees.

Among the many things that marked me, I often recount the ease with which I became reacquainted with our daily routine and privileges.

In Lebanon, the health care system is highly privatized; free medical services are practically nonexistent. If you don't have money to give birth or pay for an operation, they don't even welcome you in the hospital.

Among the tasks we had as volunteers was, where possible, to help Syrian refugees with the most immediate and concrete needs, including, for example: buying medicines, helping to cover the cost of surgeries or the cost of transportation to clinics and hospitals.

It's not a structured approach, it doesn't solve the sea of problems that refugees face, but one operation or one medicine changes the daily lives of individuals.

If anyone would like to contribute this is the right space.

The money raised will go to support Operation Dove's presence in the refugee camp and expenses to help Syrian families most in need.

Thank you all.
