A theater scholarship for Chanda
Fundraising by Tina Bartolini
Hi, I'm Tina, a member of the Pope John XXIII Community, today I want to share with you the story of Chanda, a special person who dreams of changing (her) world through theater.
Chanda is 32 years old and lives in Lusaka, Zambia. She is an elementary school teacher, but she is not just a teacher: she is an artist who loves to sing, act and dance. Every day, she brings the magic of theater to her children, because she believes that acting is an educational tool that can ignite a very powerful flame in children.
I'veknown Chanda for a long time: I've watched her grow up, become a woman, struggle, and now, finally, she' s had the opportunity of a lifetime: she's been accepted to the Master's program in Performing Arts Management at the famous La Scala Theater in Milan. A dream come true!
But there is one hurdle to overcome: she needs €10,000 to cover tuition and travel costs, as well as to meet the expenses of the first few months (the master's program will last 20 months). There were only 10 places available to get into the master's program , and Chanda managed to get in! It is a unique opportunity for her, a true social and personal redemption. This master's program will not only enrich her path, but also give her the tools to inspire others and to use theater as a means of change.
Imagine Chanda, sitting in the classroom at La Scala, ready to learn, grow, and return home to her class, to her children, to inspire them and pass on what she has learned. Her passion and talent deserve this chance, which is why with the Community we have chosen to support her, just as you do with your children, to help them dream big.
So your donation will allow us to create a scholarship for Chanda that will help her achieve her dream. Let's support her future and show her that, truly, even the last can become first, but only together!
Thank you so much for your support.
