Let's weave together possible futures

Since September 2025, volunteers from Operation Dove (Nonviolent Peace Corps of the Pope John XXIII Community) have been living and working in Syria, in Quseyr (Homs). "Day by day, we are realizing that material destruction is only a part of the deep pain and trauma that people carry inside. There is so much desire to rebuild, to restore one's community and to leave behind the fear to start thinking about the future.During Lent and Ramadan with a group of local youth, we organized interfaith meetings to break the fast together and realized the importance these moments have in creating the social fabric. From these occasions, the idea of creating a group of volunteers from the Quseyr area came forward and the Mustakbal Maana (Future Together) project was born, which we have been working with for more than a month. Our goal in the short to medium term (by early July) is to offer these/these young people the opportunity to train themselves to become an operational and supportive community group. The program being pursued covers topics such as reading context and needs, writing, monitoring and evaluating projects, conflict management, and using social media to spread and disseminate good social practices. In this way, the people who will go through the entire course will become mediators and brokers within the fragmented community of Quseyr, trying to restore the social network that broke down during the war years. The whole implementation of this program is requiring economic support: paying for transportation, space rents, materials, contributions to/for trainers...simple things that, however, have a non-trivial cost, especially in a country like Syria, just coming out of 14 years of conflict. This project, which we want to implement in the next two months or so, can generate a concrete and long-term impact, small but big steps in the direction of a future in which we envision one big Syrian community. If you would like to support us, please join this fundraising campaign to the extent that you can, small or large it doesn't matter, and help us spread the word." Thank you!

The fundraiser supports the project: Operation Dove in Syria and Lebanon - 2026
Total project goal: 15.000 €

Operation Dove volunteers share life and work alongside Syrian refugees in refugee camps in Lebanon. Since 2024, they have also started making periodic trips to Syria to monitor the situation. Supporting volunteers, helping and protecting them, means still believing in the strength of relationships and the peace that comes from staying close and dreaming together.
