Staying present little by little

In 2014 I set foot in Chile for the first time. I remember being told that the south was dangerous because "the Mapuche" were making attacks. I took the information as fact, until other people told me a completely opposite story, of an oppressed people reacting as they could, trying to defend their physical existence and culture. Over the years I met many people, with many points of view, and I realized how complex what was happening in Wallmapu (that's what Mapuche territory is called) was. Now that I live here, I finally realize how silently pervasive and violent the conflict is and how much injustice this people suffer. After a forced hiatus, the project alongside the Mapuche people became active again in October. The Dove team on the ground is not large, but it tries to be as present as possible alongside the Mapuche communities. We visit communities claiming their Rights, attend trials against political prisoners in courts all along the Wallmapu, participate as international observers at demonstrations, and write as much as we can to spread the word about what is happening here. But everything we do, especially participating in trials or demonstrations and accompanying communities on the ground, involves resources. That is why I ask you to support this year's campaign, those of you who can, with what you can.Chaltu may - Thank you

The fundraiser supports the project: In Chile alongside the Mapuche people - 2026
Total project goal: 15.000 €

The Mapuche, an indigenous people in Chile, have been persecuted and ignored for years: the State does not recognise their existence or protect their identity. Deprived of their land of origin, they are forced to fight to get it back and are therefore victims of strong repression. The Community, with volunteers, supports them in this path of claim in a peaceful and non-violent way. Support them too.
