We Help Educate
Fundraising by Sara Ferreri
Hi everyone!!!
My name is Sara and a year ago I left to do Civil Service in Ndola, Zambia. In this area, the Pope John XXIII Community Association has been there for 30 years to give educational, psychological, nutritional and family support to so many children and young people living in vulnerable conditions. "Cicetekelo" is the name of this project and it means hope in bemba, which is the local language.
Today we need YOU!
Currently, the children accepted into the project have the opportunity to attend elementary school in the Association's center and then continue their studies in outside government schools. However, we would like to give the boys the opportunity to continue with higher studies always within the protected environment created by the Community. This is because during adolescence it is easier to decide to drop out of studies and return to the streets, either to follow negative influences or to help one's family. It is difficult to see a clear future offered by a good education; it is not as concrete or immediate as doing odd jobs for a few coins.
Just to be able to provide continuity in studies there is a need to create new classrooms, buy books, train teachers and rearrange the library.
We need all the support we can get to make this dream come true. Every small gesture can make a difference.
So come on, are you in?
