The Pope John XXIII Community Association (Apg23) was founded by Father Oreste Benzi in 1968 and, ever since then, has been committing itself to fight poverty and marginalisation in all their forms. This is exactly why it has launched the new Personal Fundraising platform in order to take practical action to remove the causes of injustice.
How does it work? Everyone can launch a personal challenge creating an online fundraising page. Thanks to the help of friends and relatives you will support Apg23. You can choose to support one of the Community projects or to create a personal campaign, making use of a special occasion in your life to turn those special moments into moments of solidarity.
Father Benzi had his own unique way of convincing people he met to share his ideas. He would say: “Dai, ci stai?” (Let's do it) with a serious look in his eyes and the excited smile of a child. His ideas seemed to be out of touch, dreams too far-fetched to come true. Despite this, thousands of young and not so young people have chosen to share his commitment standing by the least, taking care of them, welcoming them in their own houses and families.
What everyone wants is a fairer and more equal world:
A family for those who are alone,
A meal a day for those who are hungry,
A bed for those living on the street,
A place in school for every child.
And we all know that each person must play his part, in his own little way, to change things. It doesn’t matter how or for how long. Let's do it!
